Female nurse on transparent PPE without uniform set to be disciplined.

a nurse on an all-male coronavirus ward in Russia has been disciplined for only wearing ‘lingerie’ beneath her highly transparent protective gown.
Her revealing picture went viral after being taken by a patient at a hospital in Tula, 100 miles south of Moscow, who said there were ‘no complaints’ from his bedfellows.
But hospital chiefs were not amused and punished the nurse for ‘non-compliance with the requirements for medical clothing’.
The unnamed medic in her 20s said she was ‘too hot’ wearing her nurses’ uniform under the gown, reports dailymail.co.uk.
She told her managers at Tula Regional Clinical Hospital that she did not realise the PPE she wore when treating coronavirus patients was so transparent.
Despite this, the regional health ministry reported that ‘a disciplinary sanction was applied to the nurse of the infectious diseases department who violated (uniform) requirements’.
Her chiefs at first said the woman was wearing ‘lingerie’ but later claimed she had a ‘swimming suit’ beneath the gown.
The nurse has not spoken publicly on the incident and the exact details of the discplinary action were not revealed.
One patient said there was no objection from men in the coronavirus ward while admitting there was ‘some embarrassment’.
A reader of local newspaper ‘Tula News’ congratulated the nurse. ‘At least someone has a sense of humour in this gloomy, gloomy reality,’ said Sergey Ratnikov.
Another supporter said: ‘Everyone shouted at her, but no one paid attention that she was dressed in this way because of the heat.
‘Maybe you need to yell at the management … because there is no normal air conditioning here.’
A woman commenter Marina Astakhova posted: ‘Well done, she raised the mood of the patients.’
And Valery Kapnin wrote: ‘Why punish the nurse, you need to reward her. ‘Seeing this outfit, no-one wants to die.’
The incident came as the head of Russia’s Covid-19 monitoring centre, a former TV doctor, Alexander Myasnikov, shocked viewers with his blunt speaking on the coronavirus crisis.
‘The infection will anyway take its toll,’ he said. ‘It’ll take its toll. ‘We will anyway all get sick.
‘Those who were supposed to die will die.’
By Tuesday, Russia had a total of 299,941 cases of infection, with an official death toll of 2,837

Expert urges regular blood pressure check as the world marks world hypertension day

Today is marked as the World Hypertension Day
World Hypertension Day is a day designated and initiated by the World Hypertension League (WHL), an umbrella to organisations of 85 national hypertension societies and leagues to create awareness about high blood pressure.

The theme for this year's commemoration is "Know your Numbers" simply telling you to regularly check your blood pressure whether you are old or young.

Blood pressure is the force that blood exerts on the walls of the blood vessels as it flows. When the pressure high,  one is said to have hypertension or high blood pressure.

Normal adult blood pressure according to WHO is defined as a blood pressure of 120 mm Hg when the heart beats (systolic) and a blood pressure of 80 mmHg when the heart relaxes (diastolic) simply known as 120/80mmHg.

When systolic blood pressure is equal to or above 140 mm Hg and/or a diastolic blood pressure equal to or above 90 mm Hg the blood pressure is considered to be raised or high.

Hypertension is the leading cause of heart diseases and stroke.  According to WHO,  an estimated 1.13 billion people worldwide have hypertension, most (two-thirds) living in low- and middle-income countries. In 2015, 1 in 4 men and 1 in 5 women had hypertension.  Hypertension is a major cause of premature death worldwide.

Current studies shows that the prevalence of hypertension is on the rise among all age groups and must not be neglected by anybody both young and old.

Risk factors of hypertension include those that are modifiable, examples are eating unhealthy diets (have excessive salt,  high in saturated fat, low intake of vegetables and fruits), consumption of tobacco,  taking alcohol,  being overweight or obese.  Physical inactivity is also a very big risk factor for developing hypertension.
Other risk factors which cannot be modified are family history of hypertension,  being 60 years and older,  co-mobidities like kidney disease or illness.

The symptoms of hypertension are not always noticeable, no wonder hypertension is termed silent killer as most people will have hypertension without knowing until they have stroke or heart attack.  This is why one must regularly check their blood pressure.
Symptoms,  when they occur can include headaches, frequent fatigue, irregular heart beat,  chest pain etc

Uncontrolled hypertension can cause stroke,  heart attack,  chest pain,  chronic kidney disease and death.

Hypertension can be prevented by modifying the modifiable risk factors  by reducing Salt intake,  being physically active (WHO recommends 150 minutes of moderate physical activity per week), reducing intake of alcohol and tobacco,  eating healthy foods with lots of fruits and veggies etc.

Hypertension can be managed by regularly checking your blood pressure,  adhering to prescribed medications and exercises if you have been diagnosed of hypertension,  reducing mental and physical stress by getting enough rest and doing things that makes you happy.

Check your blood pressure today!

THE PROS AND CONS OF COITUS INTERRUPTUS

Image result for COITUS INTERRUPTUS pics

COITUS INTERRUPTUS Also known as the rejected sexual intercourse, withdrawal or pull-out method, this form of birth control is when a man, during sexual intercourse, withdraws his penis from a woman’s vagina prior to orgasm (and ejaculation) and then directs his ejaculate (semen) away from the vagina in an effort to avoid insemination.
Decisions regarding contraceptive use are personal but risk factors, advantages and disadvantages should be considered when choosing this method.

CONS

1.    Higher Failure Rate

Compared to other forms of birth control, the withdrawal method is slightly less effective even if it is performed correctly. To prevent unplanned pregnancies, it should not be used as your primary birth control.

2. STDs

This method of birth control does not protect against sexually transmitted diseases. If you are not in a monogamous relationship, it is very important to use a condom every time you have intercourse.

 3.    Pre-cum

This is released before ejaculation. Pre-cum does not have sperm in it but it can pick up sperm in the urethra from previous ejaculation and can still result in pregnancy. Peeing doesn’t help either, as some studies have still found sperm to be in the pre-cum, even after the guy has been to the bathroom.

4.    Hard to Perform Correctly

Coitus Interruptus is not recommended as a reliable form of contraception. It takes a lot of experience and self-control for a man to be able to accurately predict when he is going to ejaculate. In addition, the effectiveness of the withdrawal method decreases drastically for men who suffer from premature ejaculation.

PROS

1. Cost

There is no cost associated with the withdrawal method. You do not need a prescription and you don’t have to purchase anything in order to practice this method of contraception. This can be an advantage for couples who have little or no insurance coverage and no access to clinics offering other forms of free birth control.

2. No Side Effects

Since the withdrawal method is completely natural, there is no risk of side effects. This can be a significant advantage for women who are bothered by the weight gain, mood swings, or nausea that can be a side effect of hormonal birth control. Women who should not take hormonal contraceptives, such as those who are over 35 or those who smoke, may also find the withdrawal method appealing.

3. Compatibility with Religious Beliefs

If your religious beliefs prevent you from using artificial contraception, but you’re not quite ready to begin or expand your family, the withdrawal method may be an appealing option. To make the pull out form of birth control more effective, however, you may wish to combine it with natural family planning techniques such as the calendar rhythm method or monitoring ovulation factors.

Conclusion: It is important to discuss with your partner in other to choose the best form of contraceptive. If you have more than one sexual partner, using the withdrawal method might put you at a risk of getting an STD or even an unplanned pregnancy. Consider other forms of contraceptives like Condoms, Spermicides and Birth Control Pills.

SIMPLE SOLUTIONS TO COMMON SKIN PROBLEMS

Image result for nature health pis

Even though flawless skin is a myth, having healthy skin is not impossible. As women, we always want to put our best skin forward and so we constantly fight every new blemish and cringe in horror every time something new pops up.
It may feel like an unending battle each month with new skin problems, acne, stretchmarks, moles, etc. but you are not alone. These skin problems are common to all women and simple solutions to get rid of them

Acne

This one right here truly is an unending battle. Breakouts are inevitable for one one reason or the either. However the biggest culprit is diet. Foods high in fat can cause you to break out in multiple spots  all at once. Other causes are stress,  hormonal imbalance, bacteria, clogged pores, and activities like pressing your phone too close to your face.
Solutions
  • Use facial wash or soap that promises to unclog your pores, an example of this is salicylic acid
  • Use products containing benzoyl peroxide to fight bacteria
  • Use retinoid or any other mild exfoliant to keep your pores unclogged and prevent build up
  • Cut out fatty acids from your diet or reduce consumption as much as you can
  • Use oral contraceptives to combat excess production of the hormone androgen in your body

Stretch Marks

Some women are lucky enough not to get this. The rest of us who do are at the mercy of cosmetologists online and offline who promise us heaven on earth. The simple truth is, the best time to treat stretch marks are when they are fresh and still red.
Solutions
  • Use prescription creams that contain retinoid
  • Moisturize with organic oils like castor oil
  • Regenerate skin around that area with fresh aloe vera
  • Fade the scars of the marks with cucumber and lemon juice mix

Scars

Scars are regular skin problems like acne but they do not require medical treatment. Depending on what skin damage left you with a scar, they usually fade over time. But like stretch marks, you can help scars fade faster if you deal with them while they are still fresh
Solutions
  • Use cucumber and lemon juice mix to lighten your scars
  • Use Turmeric paste to stop discoloration
  • Use baking soda to exfoliate and get rid of dead kin cells

Wrinkles

These age lines appear gradually on the face, neck, hands and become more and more permanent as time goes on. Sun exposure, smoking, and extreme dieting can hasten this effect, making skin look older than it is.
Solutions
  • Hydrate! If you are a smoker or heavy drinker, you need to drink a lot of water to keep your skin hydrated
  • Moisturize! Feed your skin organic oils like olive oil that rejuvenates your skin
  • Reduce intensity of skin care routines like exfoliation
  • Load up on super foods or supplements that contain Vitamins E and C

Eye Bags

Those puffy bags under the eyes is a skin problem also common to most people as we age. It is  caused by lack of sleep, allergies, diet, and sun exposure. In many cases, the darkened circles can be reversed by resolving the underlying cause, or they can be concealed with cosmetics.
Solutions
  • Use cool cucumber to reduce swelling around the eyes
  • Use your used tea bag to constrict blood flow to that area (must contain caffeine)
  • Use cotton ball dipped in milk to tighten skin under the eyes

Large Pores

Pores are the tiny openings in the surface of the skin through which moisturizing oils are released. When pores on the face are large enough to be visible, they can cause frustration as well as facial skin problems. To some degree, pore size is hereditary, but pores also appear larger when they contain trapped oil and skin cells.
Solutions
  • Exfoliate and exfoliate. Keep your pores clean always
  • Use cold water to close up pores
  • Use cotton ball dipped in a mix of 1 part apple cider, 1 part water to tighten your pores

Five (5)  Overall Solution for all Skin Problems

1. For Oily skin type: Keep your pores clean by exfoliating
2. For Dry skin: Keep your skin nourished with moisturizers
3. For skin infections: Use oral or topical antibiotics to get rid of bacteria
4. For healthy skin: Load up on water and cut out unhealthy fat from your diet
5. For glowing, ageless skin: Stick to a long term skincare routine and avoid trying out to many products on your skin

JOHESU IS NOT DEMANDING FOR PAY PARITY WITH MEDICAL DOCTORS

I also feel that it's high time we flood the Media (Print, Electronic and Social) with discussion on the RELATIVITY DEMAND by NMA.

The populace needu to be thoroughly enlightened on what they are demanding and the implications on other Sectors of the Nigerian Economy.

We need to state clearly that RELATIVITY has been granted to Medical Doctors when a fresh post NYSC Medical Doctor is allowed to enter the Federal Civil Service on GL 12 while other Health Professionals enter the Civil Service on GL 10 and below.

The implication is that it will take years of practice for other Health Professionals to attain GL12 where a fresh post NYSC Medical Doctor starts his/her career.

It must be noted that the salary of a fresh post NYSC Medical Doctor is higher than the salary of Principal Officers of other Health Professionals in the HEALTH TEAM.

RELATIVITY has also been granted to Medical Doctors after Residency Training because they are allowed to enter the Federal Civil Service on GL 14 which is equivalent to the position of Assistant Director for other Health Professionals.

It takes other Health Professionals nothing less than 12-18 years in the Federal Civil Service to attain GL 14.

Therefore, NMA's request for another RELATIVITY is uncalled for, selfish and insensitive.

It is tantamount to gaining an unjustifiable advantage over other HEALTH PROFESSIONALS in Government Service as well as setting a bad precedence not only in the Health Sector but every other sector in the Federal Civil Service.

If the Federal Government falls for the emotional blackmail of the NMA in her submission through the Minister of Health on PAY PARITY and thus allow this type of gullible precedence, the Nigerian Health System might be plunged into a vicious cycle of crisis with its attendant effects on the Healthcare of the poor and vulnerable masses of our dear Country.

The likelihood of having similar crisis in other Ministries is possible if this madness is allowed.

We shall begin to see lots of professions with superiority complex demanding for similar relativity in pay. This must not be allowed.

International best practices adopts the use of Entry Point to determine Relativity and not creation of a new salary structure just in the name of relativity.

The FG should be ready to create new salary structures based on relativity for many other professions if they continue to subscribe to the baseless argument of the NMA and the current Minister of Health who through his utterances have demonstrated BIAS against other Health Professionals and preference for Medical Doctors, his direct constituency.

JOHESU is not asking for PAY PARITY with Medical Doctors as the Ministry of Health and the Minister of Health wants Nigerians to believe.

Upward ADJUSTMENT on our CONHESS Salary Structure to reflect the current reality as currently being enjoyed by Medical Doctors since January 2014 is one of the DEMANDS before the Federal Government. This is EQUITY and not EQUALITY!

The concept of relativity must not be twisted to mean PAY PARITY.

Government must check the excesses of the “favored specie” in the Ministry of Health so that Nigerians can hive a sigh of relief in their quest to get medical attention in our Federal Tertiary Health Institutions.
